ZWrestleTalk Writer Dom Bouchard grades WWE Battleground. Breezango VS The Uso'sQuick action and a good back and forth match. Brezango worked a very solid match. They can make noise in the division if they keep it up. Upset win for Breezango. Grade B Charlotte and Dana Brooke VS Sasha Banks and BayleyWhat a reaction to the debut of Bayley. For those wondering if she would be over on the main roster here's your answer. Non stop action also Charlotte and Dana worked stiff. Bayley has the "It Factor". Win for Sasha and Bayley in a hot opener. Grade B + The Wyatt Family VS The New DayCan't help but feel sorry for Braun Strowman to have to go at in alone on Raw. The big guy is not ready. This feud should have gone on longer. Braun looked good and the Wyatt's dominated and picked up the win. Big E took a nasty bump and I hope he is okay. Grade B Rusev VS Zack RyderDominant win by Rusev. Almost a squash and guess who made the save. Hype bro Mojo Rawley made the save for Zack Ryder. Grade C Sami Zayn VS Kevin OwensAs you would expect a solid match between these two former best friends. Hope Sami didn't injure his shoulder .It turned into an extraordinary battle and a Match of the Year candidate .So much emotion involved in this match and feud. Grade A + Natalya VS Becky LynchIt was an okay match resulting in Natalya winning. Nothing to impressive happened in this match. Grade D The Miz VS Darren YoungGood wrestling by both guys. Darren is a capable performer and The Miz is an underrated wrestler.Young is in tremendous physical condition. Sadly this contest added in a DQ. Grade C- The Club VS John Cena, Enzo Amore, and Big CassThis match was very entertaining and Enzo Amore's pre match promo set the tone for the contest. Good chemistry between The Club and Enzo and Cass, and it will be awesome to see these two teams feud on RAW. Enzo looked really good tonight. Cena pins AJ after a fantastic contest. Grade A- Highlight Reel with Randy OrtonGood reaction for the Viper. This could be the beginning of a feud between these two. Good shot at Brock when Randy said "I will beat you no enhancement needed." Grade B+ Dean Ambrose VS Seth Rollins VS Roman ReignsAnother classic match and the crowd was half and half for Rollins and Ambrose .Lots of near falls.Everyone looked great Ambrose pinned Reigns. What a match!

ZWrestleTalk's Triple Z wonders about the recent WWE Draft and how SmackDown's Commissioner and General Manager drafted completely wrong. Where do I even begin? The most anticipated WWE event in years that wasn't a PPV fell short. Was it the over-emphasis on SmackDown Live? Trust me WWE loves adding the extra titles... Remember RAW SuperShow? Did WWE do the draft on purpose to make Stephanie McMahon look smart? I mean RAW is and always will be WWE's premiere brand. I expected SmackDown to get a roster so good I would have to record it every week. Sadly that won't be the case. Even though SmackDown has the better authority figures it still isn't enough to make me watch. Let's take a look at some of RAW's and SmackDown's picks.
RAW Seth Rollins Charlotte Kevin Owens Brock Lesnar Roman Reigns Sasha Banks Finn Balor SmackDown Dean Ambrose John Cena AJ Styles Bray Wyatt Randy Orton Becky Lynch American Alpha RAW: First of all RAW has a Cruiserweight division so that already sells the program. Seth Rollins is WWE's next John Cena not Roman Reigns. RAW still has Roman Reigns which basically means they have a heat magnet. RAW also has the rights to Brock Lesnar, which Brock creates must see TV. (Another issue, Lesnar is on RAW but his opponent for SummerSlam is on SmackDown does WWE Creative even look at the matches they book?). RAW has Charlotte and Sasha Banks who are great wrestlers. RAW even got Kevin Owens and he is a great talent and will shine on RAW. I could go on about RAW and how they have the better show and roster. I mean Steph and Foley even drafted Finn Balor the most anticipated wrestler to debut on the main roster. SmackDown: Okay SmackDown has the champion but for how long? I mean I like Dean Ambrose but Seth Rollins should have the championship right now. Rollins got screwed by an injury which led to the rise of Roman Reigns. Ambrose can have his time in the sunshine. I feel WWE wants the title on RAW, the premiere brand, and they will get that this Sunday if they really want it. SmackDown does have some pluses like a solo Bray Wyatt, John Cena, AJ Styles, Becky Lynch, and American Alpha. The Women's division is surprisingly bright. Then everything goes down hill. Del Rio, Ziggler, and The Miz... Wait is this 2011 or something? Why is Kalisto here? He needs to be in that Cruiserweight divison. SmackDown will be watchable don't get me wrong but it will still have the younger sibling syndrome. Shane McMahon coming into WWE promised change. Looking at his SmackDown roster it isn't believable. This looks like a Stephanie McMahon roster not a Shane McMahon roster. The brand rivalry will be interesting. Honestly though the draft was strange. I mean there is no logic behind it or any of the picks. I mean Bayley not getting pick is just insulting. Yes NXT champions should be off limits but a former champion should of went pretty early. Especially someone as popular as her. This was the perfect opportunity to bring her up. The whole "She will be the surprise Sunday!" is idiotic. I mean RAW just signs a terrific wrestler only a couple days after the draft? What happens when Sasha picks Paige to be her partner, or even Nikki Bella even though that is highly unlikely. Is NXT saving her for Asuka VS Bayley 2? That is highly unlikely also. Yes SmackDown has former World Champions but RAW has the better show for the "Wrestling Fan." The concept of the WWE Draft is a confusing one. If ESPN and major outlets are covering your draft make it realistic. I don't think they did that. This could be a solid move for the WWE and it could get SmackDown on the rise again or it could just be a blunder. "What about the former stars returning to WWE?" Well that was another WWE blunder. I mean you couldn't poach anyone from Lucha Underground, TNA, or ROH. Heck what about your former Alumni's? Sadly were going to get Curt Hawkins and Rhyno. I mean seriously Curt Freaking Hawkins... WWE didn't use him well the first time. How will this be the same. The WWE Draft lead to interesting aftermath. It's interesting to think about the concept. Over analyze the draft but at the end of the day it is for the best. Just the logic behind it doesn't add up. I mean Mick Foley and Stephanie McMahon brainstorming interesting ideas for RAW and we got Shane McMahon and Daniel Bryan drafting Naomi, Natalya, The Uso's and Mojo Rawley. You have the "Ultimate Underdog" as your General Manager but he didn't draft like one. He didn't give anyone of underdog status a chance. I mean SmackDown needed some talent that would make me watch every week. AJ Styles will but the rest falls short. It isn't must see TV or at least it isn't yet. For now RAW is still WWE's priority. Thanks for reading and comment below. Follow @TripleZ_87 @ZWrestleTalk ZWrestleTalk's WWE Writer Dom Bouchard and his friend Mike Martin do a WWE Fantasy Draft. Dom Bouchard (RAW) Mike Martin (SmackDown) Mike has the first pick of the draft. 1. Smackdown selects John Cena 1. Raw selects Seth Rollins 2. Smackdown selects Kevin Owens 2. Raw selects Dean Ambrose 3. Smackdown selects Roman Reigns 3. Raw selects Brock Lesnar 4. Smackdown selects AJ Styles 4. Raw selects The New Day 5. Smackdown selects Enzo and Cass 5. Raw selects Rusev 6. Smackdown selects The Miz 6. Raw selects Sami Zayn 7. Smackdown selects Randy Orton 7. Raw selects The Wyatt Family without Luke Harper 8. Smackdown selects Cesaro 8. Raw selects Apollo Crews 9. Smackdown selects Neville 9. Raw selects Baron Corbin 10. Smackdown selects The Uso's 10. Raw selects Gallows and Anderson 11. Smackdown selects Sheamus 11. Raw selects Alberto Del Rio 12. Smackdown selects Darren Young 12. Raw selects Kalisto 13. Smackdown selects Dolph Ziggler 13. Raw selects Finn Bàlor 14. Smackdown selects Luke Harper 14. Raw selects Social Outcasts 15. Smackdown selects 15th Chris Jericho 15 .Raw selects Zack Ryder The rest would be randomly picked online. I think that Raw would have a great mix of younger and older guys.Finn Bàlor could lead Gallows and Anderson since AJ Styles would be on Smackdown. Further down the line you would have a money feud between Finn and AJ. Luke Harper could start his own group of misfits. AJ could be a great first World Champion for Smackdown. Maybe a Summerslam Final between him and Cena with Reigns costing Cena the match? Kevin Owens would be a main event star on Smackdown.Enzo and Cass could be the Tag Team Champs. So many cool possibilities with this draft. Editor's Note from Triple Z: It's always interesting seeing people do Fantasy Drafts. This draft has some interesting and unique picks. Dom had the steal of the draft with Finn Bàlor going in the 13th round. Although his friend Mike had a similar pick with Chris Jericho in the 15th round. Both rosters are definitely different but for the most part even. Vote below for who had the better roster! Follow @domghosthunter
@TripleZ_87 @ZWrestleTalk Triple Z gives a five point preview of Monday Night RAW Most of us know that RAW on holidays usually sucks. This RAW in particular looks to be shaping up to be a very wild show. Let's check it out below. 1. The Miz VS Dean Ambrose: Champion VS ChampionMaybe The Miz is getting rewarded for his outstanding work the last couple of months. Having Maryse at his side really gives him a new edge. Ambrose has only held the title for two weeks yet it feels WWE doesn't care. WWE needs to start building Ambrose up as a champion. This match is a mid-card match. Face it, a couple months ago this would be a mid-card match. Ambrose needs a dominating performance over the IC Champ. It's odd how subtle Ambrose being champion is. Hopefully this week's RAW showcases his feud with Seth Rollins. 2. Styles VS Cena continues...John Cena VS AJ Styles has been great. Even though their first match wasn't as good as I expected… the feud seems to be really good. Anderson/Gallows need to find their place on the main roster. Keeping "The Club" together is a good idea but having Cena defeat them might be hard to believe. AJ won't win this feud. WWE will not let the former face of TNA beat WWE's top guy. Styles won round one but in round two and three look for different results. Cena will probably fight Luke Gallows on RAW. 3.Team USA VS Team WorldA 16 man tag team match. I really enjoy the concept of this match and it will be interesting to see who is involved. (SPOILER ALERT: TEAM USA IS PROBABLY GOING TO WIN BECAUSE IT'S FOURTH OF JULY. ) Jack Swagger obviously will lead Team USA and Sheamus will probably lead the World Team. 4.Titus O'Neil VS RusevRusev will defend the United States Championship against his rival Titus O'Neil. I'm sure this match will have some sort of America gimmick to it due to the holiday. If Titus hasn't won the title already it doesn't look like he will win it now. This should be a good, physical match though. 5. WWE Teasing Former GM Will Be On RAWFirst Teddy Long and then came Big Johnny. Which former WWE General Manager will return this week? Who knows but I'm sure it will be good. I wouldn't be surprised if it was Vicki Guerrero so Stephanie McMahon could talk down to her.
RAW on Independence Day should be interesting and hopefully it will deliver. Thanks for reading. Follow @TripleZ_87 |
